Not a bad concept, but as soon as the characters start talking politics i see were this author leans, and his ideas are ignorant, couldn't get past that.

Allison Secret Post Apocalyptic Woman eBook D Stalter Reviews

About friends and townspeople brought together to survive a solar pulse. Great characters, action and adventure mixed in, as well as a couple jokes. Loved the pirate joke! Happy reading! I’ll be getting the next in the series.
The main character, Allison does not want to be connected to prepping because people consider them crazy. Earlier she and her husband barely survived 2 consecutive blizzards. Wood and food were almost gone when the roads were cleared. She is a hard working farm wife. She gardens, hunts and works with herbal remedies. But her best skill is her gift of organization and a healthy worry about future weather or economic problems. Over time she has accumulated supplies and knowledge. The sun throws off a large enough mass coronal ejection to kill the power grid and most electronics. Hope I got the sun thing right. Read the book. It is a good storyline with interesting twists and turns. Got to go to bed so I can work tomorrow but I will start the 2nd book at lunch. I'm also interested in reading the herbal remedies added as an extra. Book 3 comes out next month.
Wow. I really loved this book. I like reading this type of story, and this one is definitely one of the best. I like the references to real events (the solar flare storm of 1859, which I had never heard about until reading this) and seeing a take on what could happen if that were to happen today. The storyline is very realistic. And it's really good to see a strong heroine in this genre. She's the type of person I can relate to. The characters were all believable, and likable throughout the story. And it was really good to see the people coming together in a time of crisis and building a community.

This book grabbed my attention from the start and didn't let go until I finished reading it. There was so much action that I just couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next book in this series, so I can see what happens next with these characters. I really hope it comes out soon!
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down.I read the whole book in one day. It grabs your interest and holds it to the end. Highly recommend it
This is a good story. I really liked that its not the usual dystopian stuff, its very realistic and is written around a main character who is Mrs Everyday. She isn’t a ‘prepper’ in the conventional sense but has done her best to prepare for catastrophes like her husbands business going broke, or a major illness that can lead to financial disaster. Scenarios that can happen to you and me, anytime.
I look forward to book #2
I had been reviewing several emp novels for my granddaughters to read. I think I have found the perfect beginning book for them. Excellent verbiage and explanations for difficult subjects. I love the incorporation of herbal uses for everyday ailments. The reading is smooth and reasonably understandable. A limited use of profanity and sexual connotations. I would highly recommend this book for there's and even upper tennis.
I wasn't really too sure what this book would be about when I picked it up but it really gripped me, despite being a little clunky at times. A solar flare knocks out all electronics in the northern hemsiphere. The story centres on a woman called Allison who has been quietly preparing for a disaster. She's an organiser and surrounded by practical countryfolk. I enjoyed the descriptions of the building and old-school ways people got into. I may well get the second book because it promises more practical how-to stuff and I enjoy that even though I know how to make do myself. I think this was a big part of the pleasure I got from reading Diana Gabaldons books - all the old school medicine. Don't expect the same wide story arc here, its still fun though.
This book could do with some light editing - I'm pretty sure none of the dialogue has a comma in it and the result is rather robotic speech from the characters. Towards the end the proofers got tired and there are a few tense slips and typos.
Not a bad concept, but as soon as the characters start talking politics i see were this author leans, and his ideas are ignorant, couldn't get past that.
